Why Do Men Pull Away?
Distance can come from stress, uncertainty, avoidant patterns, changing interest, conflict, mismatched pacing or many other causes. The useful question is not “what do men always do?” but “what pattern is this person showing?”
Start with the pattern, not the gender
Notice when the distance began, whether communication changed, and whether actions still match words. One quiet day is different from weeks of inconsistent contact.
Avoid mind-reading
You can form hypotheses, but only the other person can tell you what they intend. Ask proportionate questions instead of treating internet rules as proof.
Watch reciprocity
If you are continually compensating for their distance by texting more, planning more and soothing more, the dynamic itself is useful information.
Know when the issue is bigger
Threats, coercion, stalking, abuse or serious mental-health concerns need appropriate professional or safety support—not dating tactics.
