Think initiating plans, following through, making time, showing curiosity and participating in repair—not grand gestures.

Look for consistency

Occasional intensity can feel compelling while still producing an inconsistent relationship.

Stop filling every gap

If you initiate every conversation and solve every scheduling problem, you may never see what the other person contributes voluntarily.

Ask what you need

A relationship is not successful merely because someone likes you. Compatibility includes whether their level of investment works for you.
